Admin and Finance Apprentice
Location: Leicester LE5 5DU
We have an exciting opportunity for an Administration & Finance Apprentice, to join our team, at Head Office and will be based at Leicester.
The role will be to assist in documentation, administration & follow up requisite in finance domain and will carrying out activities & working within the finance team helping with data being inputted into various systems and liaising with external and internal professionals & keeping the communication up to date for seamless stakeholder management.
During your apprenticeship the person will get a good grounding in all aspects of finance from purchase ledger and payroll through to financial accounting and business partnering. You will be working as part of a team in a varied and friendly environment. This role would suit someone starting their career or looking for a career change, with focus on the wide experience opportunities.
Full Training & Defined SoP will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with sales ledger and purchase ledger duties such as checking invoices, filing invoices and statements as well as dealing with purchase enquiries.
- Assistance in production on monthly management accounts, balance street reconciliations, daily banking’s and cashflow, credit control, as well as ad-hoc duties that come up within the accounting functions.
- Supplier invoices – entering Xero, arranging for payment.
- Bank reconciliation – regular and full reconciliation of bank account balances to Xero. Quick resolution and clearance of any errors.
- Month end journal preparation and assisting with preparation of month end management accounting reports.
- Assist with development and analysis of KPIs.
- Assist with cash flow analysis and forecasting.
- Assist in ensuring that accounting tasks, analysis and reporting make efficient use of available systems.
- Raise and post invoices for all areas of the business.
- Post receipts from the bank.
- Maintain the financial records.
- Make sure customers pay on schedule, and follow up via phone, email, or letter.

Who We’re Looking For
- Education to GCSE standard to include English and Maths (Grade C / 4 or above)
- Experience of planning work and acting under instruction.
- Customer facing and administration experience is essential.
- Strong Keyboard skills and computer literacy
- Numerate, good attention to detail, good telephone manner, good level of written and spoken English, ability to work well alone or as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for new challenges
- No previous experience in Finance necessary
