How it works

We’ll begin by finding out about you, your interests, experience and goals, and establish whether an Apprenticeship is right for you.

Our friendly Apprenticeship recruitment team will help find an employment opportunity to suit you.

Once we have secured your place on the Apprenticeship programme with an appropriate employer, you’ll receive one-to-one training from a dedicated tutor.

Your tutor, who will have worked in the industry and has real working knowledge of the job, will continue to advise and guide you throughout your programme.

FAQ's

Are there any age restrictions on Apprenticeships?

You have to be 16 or over to do an Apprenticeship, but there are no upper age limits. This is ideal for people who want to change career or gain a new qualification later in life.

How much can I earn on my Apprenticeship?

The beauty of an Apprenticeship is that you are able to earn while you learn. The present minimum wage for an apprenticeship is £3.50 per hour but many employers choose to pay much more! Nationally on average, apprentices tend to earn around £170 a week.

I’m already in a career I enjoy. Can I do an Apprenticeship to develop my skills?

Absolutely! Apprenticeships are available to newly employed individuals as well as existing employees where Apprenticeships can provide training for skills or knowledge gaps. This makes them an ideal vehicle for continued professional development (CPD).

How long does an Apprenticeship last?

Most Apprenticeships offered by Crown Vocational Training will last in the region of 12 to 18 months. The length of a programme is discussed at the enrolment stage and can be adjusted according to an individual’s own circumstances and requirements.

Do I have to pay anything towards my Apprenticeship?

No. The Apprentice is not expected to contribute financially towards the delivery of their Apprenticeship. The programme is funded either by the UK Government or your employer depending

I already have a degree. Can I still do an Apprenticeship?

From 1st May 2017, the funding rules regarding prior attainment have been relaxed meaning that individuals who hold a degree are no longer barred from undertaking an Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship provided that this is an otherwise unrelated subject area.

Will doing an Apprenticeship really enhance my career?

Yes – An Apprenticeship gives you invaluable, hands on experience, a salary and the opportunity to gain qualifications while you work – even a degree in some instances. All of this with some high quality, prestigious companies in many different industries. Ultimately, by completing an Apprenticeship, this will place in you in good stead to get into the career of your choosing or progress within your existing role.
